Welcome to Steve Nichols for Governor 2010!
FOR TEXAS GOVERNOR
By Steve Nichols on July 4, 2009
Welcome to the Steve Nichols for Governor Campaign website. This site offers you the opportunity to contact both the campaign and me. The state of Texas is a strong state that has an enormous amount of natural resources which includes the citizens. If we want to accomplish great things, we must join together to achieve these goals. That is why I am asking you to join the team of people who will restore the basic principles of responsible governing that we all believe in. It will take each one of us participating in this election to lower taxes and health care cost, secure our borders improve education by offering more control to the local community, lower crime across the state, reinstate personal property rights and stop the development of unwanted toll roads.
I have a proven tract record in lowering the tax rate, lowering crime and most importantly, allowing everyone to have a place in voicing their opinion and developing good practical policies to benefit the public. My basic position in governing is to spend the least amount of money possible, while effectively providing services in an efficient manner.
We all understand that being taxed is necessary to provide for basic services such as road development and maintenance, police and fire protection, education and other basic services. However, we have reached a point that these basic services are not being performed at a satisfactory level. Furthermore, we are being asked to pay more for poor performance levels. This is counter to what anyone would tolerate in the private business world. Our elected officials should be held to a higher standard.
We have had a problem of electing career politicians. We should be electing individuals who open their utility or tax bills with the same disgust or knowledge of being taken advantage of without true representation. Our current body of elected officials generally acts as if we work for them and vote as if they are running their own personal company. I pledge that I would limit myself to two terms as your Governor.
Sincerely,
Steve Nichols
